Climate change is an unprecedented emergency. There is no one silver bullet to the problem. It will require changes in our behaviour, policies and even ask us to question our entire economic system. Policy shifts towards clean energy sources and transportation are key. Technological solutions will also play an important role. From energy storage, power distribution to more efficient renewable (or nuclear) energy sources; all these will need to be implemented. Another important development will be the creation of a CO2 upcycling process, where CO2 from our atmosphere is harnessed and used as feedstock for commodities and fuels.
Skytree’s mission is to accelerate the development of carbon upcycling technology. Our process removes CO2 from the air in one of the most effective manners possible today. But what’s a technology worth when confined to a lab? In order to fulfill our mission, Skytree scouts and develops useful applications for the process. In such a way, we can use market forces to pull the technology into everyday life and not have to forever push a solution without a problem.
Which applications represent markets for CO2 removal technology? Supply applications include but are not limited to water management, crop fertilisation in greenhouses & vertical farms, cement & plastic production and fuel production. Some lesser known applications, that use exactly the same removal process, are air quality applications including CO2 stabilisation in schools, hospitals and offices as well as modes of transport including cars, buses & planes.
Skytree’s first application is within air quality management for Electric Vehicles. Read more about our Ersa product here.
