Carbon Conference NL 2024

Published on
October 21, 2024

Transforming the CO2 problem into an opportunity

Together with Sinkit, Carbyon, Sea02, Brineworks, and Peabbl, Skytree is hosting an event with the goal to define a clear roadmap towards a green carbon economy in the Netherlands.

Excess CO2 is the key driver of climate change, making it essential to reduce emissions, remove our historical CO2, and transition to circular carbon supply chains.

The energy transition towards a low-carbon world is taking shape today, pressuring traditional CO2 supply chains. With the rise of capture and storage opportunities and carbon-innovation, the Netherlands can lead the way towards a net-negative carbon economy. As this requires both carbon removal and carbon utilization there are opportunities for new CO2 sources - biogenic, atmospheric, and oceanic - to emerge.

Now is the time to define the roadmap towards a green carbon economy

To achieve net zero, a clear carbon roadmap is vital. The ministry of Climate and Green Growth will present the National Carbon roadmap at the conference with the specific aim to obtain expert opinions from the growing Carbon Ecosystem. Together we can define the critical steps and understand the various needs from the parties involved to create the new Green Carbon Economy together.

The afternoon gathers industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to define the critical steps, understand the various needs from the parties involved, and discuss the sustainable and economic potential of the new Green Carbon Economy together.

We have prepared interactive activities and we are very excited for our guest speakers to tell their story so make sure not to miss them!

What to expect:

12:00 - Walk in & vegetarian lunch

12:30 - Opening remarks on the CO2 universe, and CCU for National Climate goals (CO2 value)

13:00 - Carbon utilization in horticulture (Division Q)

13:20 - Carbon Capture Innovation: SeaO2, Brineworks, Peabbl, Skytree & Carbyon

14:00 - Coffee & Network break

14:30 - Introduction to the concept Carbon Roadmap (Ministry Climate & Green growth)

15:00 - Activity: Working Sessions to give expert input on the Concept Roadmap

16:00 - Closing panel discussions on "Implementing the Carbon Economy and National Carbon Roadmap in the Netherlands: how to succeed?" with:

Navigating the Path to Effective Carbon Removal: Our Perspective

The conversation around Direct Air Capture (DAC) and its role in addressing climate change is active and important. Like any evolving technology, DAC faces questions and scrutiny, which we see as vital for continuous improvement across the industry. We believe it's a good moment to share our perspective on some key topics and reaffirm our commitment to developing robust and effective DAC solutions.

Our Wins in 2024

2024 has been an exciting year of growth and innovation for Skytree as we continue to push the boundaries of direct air capture (DAC) technology to capture CO₂ directly from ambient air and utilize it in a circular way to create valuable products or permanently store it to reduce atmospheric concentrations. With growing global demand for both removal and utilization, Skytree has focused on innovation, building strategic partnerships, and international expansion to accelerate DAC deployments. This timeline highlights the key milestones we achieved throughout the year, demonstrating our commitment to addressing emissions from hard-to-abate sectors and helping offset historical emissions.

Skytree at Indoor AgCon 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that Skytree will be at the 12th Annual Indoor AgCon in Las Vegas on March 11–12 2025. Stop by Booth #324 to see how our approach seamlessly integrates into existing greenhouse energy systems and represents the future of CO₂ supply in controlled environment agriculture. Let’s discuss your CO₂ needs and help you grow moreee you there!

Transforming sunlight into eFuel: Skytree Stratus selected by Forschungszentrum Jülich for innovative Power-to-X research project

Skytree’s Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology has been selected by Germany’s Forschungszentrum Jülich  for a pioneering Power-to-X research project. The goal: to create a scalable, real-world model for converting solar energy into carbon building blocks usable as eFuel or base chemical  eFuels are renewable, carbon-neutral liquid fuels that can be produced in desert climates, powered by solar energy, and transported to energy-demanding regions like Europe. This initiative aims to demonstrate how companies could transform excess renewable energy into safely transportable fuels using Direct Air Capture in the future.

Innovative air-to-growth: Koppert Cress sets new standard with DAC technology in greenhouses, backed by Division Q’s Investment in Skytree

Division Q, Koppert Cress' innovation arm, invests in Skytree's Direct Air Capture (DAC), reinforcing Koppert Cress’ commitment to lead sustainability in horticulture and become climate-positive by 2026. This collaboration will see Skytree’s DAC technology deployed in Koppert Cress’ greenhouses, extracting CO₂ directly from the atmosphere to stimulate plant growth. This initiative not only advances sustainable horticulture but also solidifies the Netherlands’ positions as global leader in innovative greenhouse technology.
